CPR: Staring at the Monitor

Report:

Ventricular fibrillation

Sinus rhythm (post-cardioversion)

Third degree AV block - ventricular asystole

CPR artefact

Comment:

Nothing happened for over 7 seconds, the staff looking at the monitor. Closed chest compression should resume a little earlier after DC countershock. Note that there is no visible CPR effort before the countershock, either.

Below (165a) is another defibrillation, this time followed by closed chest compressions much earlier, even though formed QRS complexes are present. The Staff must have been quick learners. They were stopped only when the pulse was definitely felt (bottom strip).
