Normal Infant ECG
Report:
Sinus rhythm 144/min
Axis +110o
RsV1
Normal trace
Comment:
The heart rate of a normal infant between one and three months is 120 to 180/min; the normal range widens over the next three months to 106 – 186/min88.
The rest of the trace would pass for adult RVH, with RAD and dominant R in V1 (in normal conduction: RBBB or Wolff-Parkinson-White don’t count). Infantile QRS is narrow; it increases from about 0.05” at birth to 0.07” in adolescence89. Inferolateral Q waves are also normal; they are narrow but often quite deep. On the other hand, Q waves are not normally seen in 1 and aVL.
