Katz-Wachtel phenomenon – biventricular hypertrophy

Comment:

Here the evidence for RVH is confined to the upright T wave in V1 (abnormal from 4 days to 4 years) and for LVH to the sum of SV1 + RV5 voltages > 45 mm. However, Katz-Wachtel mid-precordial voltages are diagnostic of biventricular hypertrophy.

Both ASD and VSD were repaired at the age of three months and, by 2 years, the ECG was virtually normal (Fig 13a below).

Short PR intervals of both recordings are of course normal in children.
