Negative T & U Waves
Report:
Sinus rhythm 78/min
Diffuse nonspecific ST/T changes
Prominent U waves ?hypokalæmia
Comment:
U wave polarity follows that of the preceding T wave, except in ischæmia, where isolated U negativity may be a marker of critical LAD artery lesions. In this instance, both T and U wave are negative, for unknown reasons. The QT interval is difficult to measure, but appears prolonged. The recorded potassium levels ranged between 2.6 and 3.0 mEq/L, possibly accounting for the prominence of the U waves, but little else.
A repeat recording the same day remained unchanged (16a).
