Comment:
After long cycles, the U grows bigger and the T wave shrinks. U wave regularly exceeds the height of the T wave after long cycles.
Hypokalæmia and its effect on ventricular ectopic activity have been extensively studied in the context of diuretic therapy of hypertension. Even a relatively small effect would be significant in view of the number of hypertensive patients in the community.[!xe "Hypokalæmia:thiazides in hypertension" \b \i!]
There is some evidence that marked increase in U wave size as seen here indicates higher risk of arrhythmias124.
